Reading the Gospels During Holy Week: Getting Oriented

We are in the midst of holy week, which began with the Triumphal Entry and will be crowned with the resurrection on Sunday. An entire third of the total content in the four Gospels is devoted to the seven days spanning from Palm Sunday to Easter. Yet if you read the passion narratives in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the chronology is not always obvious.

Bible Gateway has produced a neat little timeline for holy week which you can see here. Furthermore, if you want a single for reading for each of the holy week days, see the passages below.

Palm Sunday: Matthew 21:1–11

Monday: Matthew 21:12–22

Tuesday: Matthew 21:23–26:5

Wednesday Matthew 26:6–16

Thursday: Matthew 26:17–75

Friday: Matthew 27:1–61

Saturday: Matthew 27:62–66

Sunday: Matthew 28:1–20

May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you this Easter season.
